Community Solutions Session #1 A & B (Friday) with Melanie St. James and Joseph Jacques

Join Melanie St. James of Empowerment Works with Joseph Jacques of CAST, Sheri Herndon and Deborah Dove for a transformative, hands-on solution building session learning about tools you can use for deepening collaboration and turning your visions into impact.

Designed to support community action from exploration to implementation planning, the Solution Session Track hosts 4 mutually-supportive sub-sessions: Friday A (break) B, Saturday A (break) B. While Saturday builds upon Friday actitities, it is made to be enjoyed independently, no previous experience or participation is needed.

Summary of Friday Session Part A (first hour before break!)

Achieving Meaningful Collaboration is a harder than it sounds. Communication, mutual-appreciation & understanding across diverse social & economic backgrounds/disciplines is the foundation for success.

Designed to empower individuals, businesses, and organizations in developing whole-system solutions from the ground-up, this interactive role-PLAY cultivates the inherent potential of all people to co-create.

Outcomes / Objectives:

  • Deepen social impact -  engage & empower diverse community members to advance mutual goals

  • Learn creative use of resources at hand & bring your vision(s) to life with NO money

  • Get beyond the choir by engaging diverse economic sectors in successful collaboration

  • Design long-term economic sustainability into your projects

 
Key Activities:

1. Intro to the CAST context, EW Community-Led Solutions Approach with 6 key Partners In Empowerment™ (PIE) categories (the Roles we PLAY!)

2. To experience cross-sector synergy, participants organize into groups of 6 (one representing each PIE category), and jointly develop solutions to critical issue of choice, and

3. Groups share project results with all participants, reinforcing lessons learned.

Co-create localized solutions with people from all walks of life - be inpired by Jamaica Stevens, Founder and Creative director of Tribal Convergence; Melanie St. James of Empowerment Works; Joseph Jacques of CAST, along with facilitators Deborah Dove and Sheri Herndon. 

This session will offer valuable proccesses and tools to both support your existing social and / or business endeavors, as well as inspire new creative solutions and remind you of the talents and resources in your community.
